1870 Silver Massonnet Medal Picardie and Flandres Railroad Locomotive & Industry
Description: A nice silver medal from France. The medal was issued by the Picardie and Flandres Railroad which was in existence in the period 1868-1885. The obverse of the medal has the image of a very unusual locomotive within a industrial setting showing a crane, a factory, a water tower and an anvil as well as wheels surrounding it. The reverse has the legend "CHEMINS DE FER DE PICARDIE ET DE FLANDRES" along the edge with the monogram PF within wreath in the center. The edge of the medal is plain and unmarked. The medal itself is marked "MASSONNET" along the edge of the obverse in front of the locomotive. The medal is in mint state condition and is nicely toned. The details of the design on both the obverse and reverse are very sharp and show no wear. The fields are clean with minimum surface marks. A very nice medal to add to your collection.
