1905 Swiss Medal Fete De Vignerons Grape Growers Festival Vevey Canton Vaud MS65

Description: A very nice 1905 silver medal from Switzerland. This silver medal is graded Mint State 65 (MS 65 by NGC and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. The medal commemorates the Fete De Vignerons (or grape growers' Festival) held only four or five times each century in Vevey on the Lake Geneva (actually Lake Leman) in the canton de Vaud in Switzerland. The obverse of the medal shows a grape grower with a basket full of grapes on his back walking through the vineyard with the Alps (the Swiss mountains) behind him and a Castle in the back ground (Chateau de Chillon - the most visited castle in Switzerland) on the lake shore, all in high relief. The reverse shows vines with grapes and a cornucopia with the words Liberte Et Patrie the motto of the canton of Vaud, again in high relief. The obverse has the words "VEVEY 1905", while the reverse has the words "FETE DE VIGNERONS" again in high relief. The medal has the designer's signature at the bottom of the cornucopia and seems to read "HOLY frs". Please view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
