1924 Bronze Medal Commemorating Tercentenary of Settlement the City of Albany NY

Description:  A nice two inches bronze medal commemorating the 300th anniversary of the settlement of the city of Albany NY. The medal depicts the coat of arms of the city of Albany NY on the obverse which has the word "ASSIDUITY" or "the quality of acting with constant and careful attention" at the bottom of the arms. The coat of arms is surrounded by the legend "IN COMMEMORATION OF THE TERCENTENARY OF THE SETTLEMENT OF ALBANY, N.Y. 1624-1924" along the edge. It also has the legend "CHARTERED 1686" below it. The reverse has the legend "NAMES BY WHICH ALBANY HAS BEEN KNOWN; FORT NASSAU 1614; FORT ORANGE 1624; RENSSELAERSWYCK 1630; BEVERWYCK 1652; ALBANY 1664; WILLEMSTADT 1673; ALBANY 1674" in 17 lines with the last 14 lines written within a scroll all within a wreath. The medal has a plain edge with no markings. The medal, which is in mint state, is ~2' in dimeter and weighs about 64.5 grams. A great medal to add to your collection. Condition: The medal is uncirculated in mint state. It is beautiful with no observable wear, no blemishes, and a minimum of surface marks. Note the medal is darker than the photos suggest.
