1937 Medal Society Of Medalists 15th Issue Love Embracing Couple Robert Aitken
Description: A nice large and heavy bronze medal from 1937. This is the Society of Medalists fifteenth issue medal. The medal has the image of a couple fully interwind in an embrace on the obverse and as if penetrating through the bronze of the metal their opposite side is shown on the reverse. The obverse has the legend "OMNIA VINCIT AMOR" while the reverse has the legend "ALL MANKIND LOVE A LOVER". The bottom of the obverse has a scarab signifying Love is Immortal. The edge of the medal is marked "The Society of Medalists fifteenth Issue; Medallic Art Company N.Y. Bronze; Robert Aitkens Sculptor" A great looking and very interesting medal, by one of America's top medalists to add to your collection. Marks: Marked "The Society of Medalists fifteenth Issue; Medallic Art Company N.Y. Bronze; Robert Aitkens Sculptor" along the edge of the medal. There is the notation AITKEN on the reverse within the scarab below the design and the circled c for copyright to the right of the design the design.
Condition: The medal is in excellent condition and I would grade it mint state. The medal has no observable wear with minimum surface marks or scratches. It has what I view as beautiful dark brassy coloring and is problem free. A great medal to add to your collection.
