1942 Medal Society Of Medalists 25th Issue Thou Sluggard-Go to the Ant J de-Coux
Description: A nice large and heavy reddish brown bronze medal from 1942. This is the Society of Medalists eighteenth issue medal. The obverse of the medal has the image of a lazy man asleep under a tree with the sun above and a snail next to him. There is the legend "THOV SLVGGARD" below the image. The reverse shows three ants communicating with each other with antennas within the grass. There is the legend "GO TO THE ANT CONSIDER HER WAYS AND BE WISE" surrounding the image. The edge of the medal is marked "The Society of Medalists; Twenty Fifth Issue 1942-Janet de Coux Sculptor" and "Medallic Art Co. N.Y. Bronze". A great looking and very interesting medal, by one of America's top sculptors to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
