1942 Switzerland Bronze Medal Celebration 2000 Years History of Geneva City View
Description: A nice large bronze medal from 1942. This is a medal commemorating the 2000 years of history for the city of Geneva Switzerland. The medal depicts the arms of Geneva flanked by two allegorical figures and a sun above it on the obverse. There is the words "REIPUB.TUTAMINA./I.D." below the arms on the obverse. The obverse also has the legend "POST TENEBRAS LUX." above the image along the edge. The reverse depicts a beautiful and very impressive city view with a shore line and boats in the middle of the lake. There is a large disk of sun above the city with rays shining down and large puffy clouds. The legend "DEUX MILLE ANS D'HISTOIRE; GENEVE; 58 AV. J.C.-1942" in exergue. The reverse also has the legend "POST TENEBRAS LUX." above the image along the edge within a scroll. The edge of the medal is stamped "INVERSIN GENEVE" on two lines. It has some light toning and great eye appeal. This is beautiful medal worthy of a spot your collection.
