1961 Bronze Medal Society Of Medalists SOM 63 Pilgrims and Patriots Adolph Block
Description: A nice large bronze medal from 1961. This is the Society of Medalists 63rd issue medal. The medal, known as “Pilgrims and Patriots”, has the image of pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock with the Mayflower anchored to the right in the background on the obverse. The obverse has the legend "THEY FOUND FREEDOM TO WORSHIP GOD" on both sides of the design. There is also the notation A.Block (c) 1961 below the image along the edge. The reverse has the image of a Revolutionary War solider with sword and musket with additional soldiers and a church as well as a stockade in the background. The reverse has the legend "ARMED IN THE HOLY CAUSE OF LIBERTY" on both sides of the image and the notation A.Block (c) below the image. The medal has a nice toned bronze finish. The edge of the medal is marked on the edge with the words "THE SOCIETY OF MEDALISTS 63rd ISSUE-MAY 1961 ADOLPH BLOCK S.C." on one side and the words "MEDALLIC ART CO N.Y. BRONZE" on the other side. The medal comes in its original issue box with pamphlet describing the medal. A great looking and very interesting medal to add to your collection. The lid of the box is marked on the outside of the lid with the words "THE SOCIETY OF MEDALISTS" and "Medallic Art Co. New York" on the inside of the lid. There is also the notation A.Block (c) 1961 below the design on the obverse and A.Block (c) below the image on the reverse.

Condition: The medal is in excellent condition and I would grade it uncirculated mint state. The medal has no wear with a minimum of surface marks, if any. This is a great looking medal that is problem free. The box and the pamphlet are also in very good condition. A great medal to add to your collection.
