1973 Large Silver Medal The Society Of Medalists 88th Issue By Edward Grove The Alphabet

Description: A nice large and heavy silver medal from 1973. This is the Society of Medalists eighty eighth issue medal. The obverse of the medal has the image of a star like design dividing it into ten section each with letters from a different alphabet such as Arabic, Hebrew, and Cyrillic. The center of the obverse has the words "THE ALPHA BET". The reverse shows a montage of the 26 letters of English alphabet with the notation ERG (c) 1973 below it. The designs on both sides are in nice high relief. The edge of the medal is marked "THE SOCIETY OF MEDALISTS; 88TH ISSUE-OCTOBER 1973; EDWARD GROVE SC (c); ONE OF LIMITED ISSUE OF 700; MEDALLIC ART CO. N.Y. .999+ PURE SILVER". A great looking and very interesting medal, by a great American sculptor-medalists to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

There is the notation ERG (c) 1973 on the bottom of the reverse. Condition: The medal is in excellent condition and I would grade it uncirculated or mint state. The medal has no observable wear with minimum surface marks or scratches. This is beautiful medal worthy of a spot your collection.
