Antique Masonic Bronze Medal Purple Ribbon Pin 33 Degree Enoch T. Carson
Description: A nice bronze medal with top loop and attached to a purple ribbon. This Scottish Rite Masonic medal is a tribute to Enoch T. Carson (1822-1899). The medal depicts the bust of Enoch Carson the father of the Scottish Rite in the Ohio Consistory on the obverse. Enoch T Carson was outstanding Masonic scholar and master mason having achieved the highest level possible in the Masonic world. The obverse also has the legend "Enoch T. Carson Father of the Rite in Ohio" along the edge around Mr. Carson's bust. The reverse of the medal has the legend "Supreme Council 33 degree N.M.J. Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Sept 20-21-22, 1898 Cincinnati." The medal is attached to a purple cloth ribbon which ends with a metal rectangle having a pin on the back, which is meant to allow you to attach the medal/ribbon to your clothing. It is not clear to us what the occasion or what happened on the date indicated on the medal. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: The medal has the date September 20-21-22, 1898.
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Weight and Size: The medal measures ~38.5 mm in diameter and the entire piece is ~97.5 mm with the pin, on top having the word Cincinnati, being ~40 mm. The entire piece weighs ~32 grams.

Condition: The medal itself is in very good condition and I would grade it as extremely fine or much better. The medal has a few scratches and some minor dings. The ribbon is a bit soiled but is still intact with no losses. The pin itself is intact and still works well. The back of the pin has some residue of what we believe is solder from the locking mechanism. The entire piece is in great condition. A great piece to add to your collection.
