Beautiful 1846 Large Silver Coin Italian Papal State Scudo Pope Gregory XVI
Description: A beautiful and large silver coin from the Italian Papal States. This is the 1846 XVI Scudo. The coin depicts the image of Pope Gregory XVI facing left on the obverse with the legend "GREGIOUS .XVI POM.M.AN.XVI" surrounding the image. The reverse shows the denomination and date within a wreath. This coin is from the Pope's last year of his papacy. The coin weighs ~26.9 grams of 0.900 silver and measures ~37.5 mm in diameter. The coin is in about uncirculated condition. It is beautiful and has very well preserved details with minimum wear. Condition: I would grade this coin as an extremely fine to about uncirculated. The coin has all of its details very well preserved with minimum wear. The coin has a green colored stain below the pope's ear. The coin has scratches in the fields on both sides and have a few minor bag marks. The coin also has some minor hairlines in the fields on the reverse. Be that as it may, it has very nice eye appeal and would make a nice addition to your collection.
