Beautiful 1862 Silver Coin Italian Papal State 20 Baiocchi Pope Pius IX Year 17 KM 1360 XVII R
Description: A beautiful about uncirculated or much better silver coin from the Italian Papal States. This is the 1862 AN XVII Twenty Baiocchi struck during the times of Pope Pius IX by the mint in Rome Italy. The coin depicts the image of the bust of pope Pius IX facing left on the obverse with the legend "PIVS IX.PONT.MAX.AN.XVII" surrounding the image. The reverse shows the denomination and date within a wreath with the mint mark "R" in the bottom. The coin weighs ~5.7 grams of 0.800 silver and measures ~24 mm in diameter. The coin has a reeded edge. This is the rather scarce coin. It is beautiful and has a nice portrait of the Pontiff. Condition: I would grade the coin as about uncirculated or much better with all of its details being very well preserved and showing minimum wear if any. The coin has minor scratches and a minimum number of bag marks. It is nicely toned, is great looking and has nice eye appeal.
