Beautiful Silver Coin 1877 AD 1293 AH year 2 Egyptian One Qirsh Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II

  • $ 87.77

Description: A great looking and rather rare about uncirculated or much better silver coin from Egypt. This is a one qirsh coin from the reign of Abdul Hamid II the Ottoman Sultan who ruled the Islamic world in the period 1876-1909. The coin shows the sultan's tughra, roses to the right and above the toughra and the denomination below it. The reverse says Duribah Fi Misr (struck in Egypt) with the number 2 for the 2nd year of Abdul Hamid II's reign over the letter "Beh" on top. There is also Abdul Hamid accession year of 1293 AH below it all on the reverse. It is KM 277 measuring approximately 18 mm in diameter and weighing 1.3 grams of 0.833 Silver. Coins of low denomination such as this one are rather scarce in such a nice condition since they were heavily circulated, abused or melted for the silver in them. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1877AD - 1293 AH year 2 of Abdul Hamid II's reign.

Mint: Egypt.

Size and Weight: This is a one Qirsh and is ~18 mm in diameter and weighs ~1.3 grams.

References: It is KM #277.

Condition: I would grade this coin as a good about uncirculated or much better with all the details being extremely well preserved and retaining quite a bit of its original luster. The coin has great eye appeal and is lustrous The coin shows minimum wear, if any, and has a few minor scratches. It is much better than the photos suggest but has minimum wear, if any, commensurate with its almost uncirculated status. The coin has excellent eye appeal and is beautiful. Please see photo for additional condition information.
