Egypt Silver Coin 1905/6 AD Two Qirsh Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II H Mark XF+
Description: A beautiful extremely fine or better 1293 AH 30th year of Sultan Abdul Hamid II reign, or 1905/6 AD, Egyptian Two Qirsh (or two pistres) silver coin. The coin depicts the toughra of Abdul Hamid the second with the denomination under it and a rose to its right all surrounded by branches and having two crossing quivers under it all. There are 7 stars above the tughra. The reverse says "Duribah Fi Misr" or struck in Egypt with the number 30 over the "beh" in duribah (for 30th regnal year of Abdul-Hamid's reign) and the date 1293 AH under it for the year when Abdul-Hamid ascended the throne, all surrounded by branches and having three stars on top. Just a beautiful design and a great looking coin. The coin is beautiful, retains some of its original mint luster. The coin has all of its details well preserved and very readable. This coin is rather scarce in such a good grade. Please carefully review photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 1905/6.
Mint: Egypt, actually these coins were struck in Birmingham England as evidenced by the mint mark "H" at the bottom of the obverse.
Size and weight: This is a 2 Qirsh, weighs approximately 2.8 grams of 0.833 silver and is about 19 mm in diameter.
References: It is KM #293.
Condition: I would grade this coin as a beautiful extremely fine or better with all the details being very well preserved and the coin having very nice eye appeal. It does have minor scratches, one or two minor bag marks, and some toning or soiling embedded within the devices, but retains some of its original mint luster. The coin has some wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. The coin has very nice eye appeal. It is much nicer than the photos suggest. Please see photos for additional condition information.
