Pittsburgh 1881 Bronze Cotswold Fleece Award Medal PA Ag. Society By A. C. Morin
Description: A nice large and heavy nicely toned, about uncirculated, bronze award medal. The medal was awarded by the Pennsylvania State Agricultural Society at Pittsburgh in 1881 to I.L. Henderson for his Cotswold Fleece. The medal shows the Pennsylvania Arms or state seal on the obverse surrounded by the legend "THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY" and having the legend "INSTITUTED A.D 1851" below it. The medal is also marked "A.C. MORIN FECIT. PHILAD." along the bottom edge of the obverse. The reverse is engraved in nice calligraphy within a wreath along the edge with the words "Pittsburgh1881/I. L. Henderson/Cotswold Fleece. A nice a substantial medal in what we consider about uncirculated. The medal has a nice brown coloring and has all of its details very well preserved. The only issue is a few bumps or bruises to the edge especially the one at 10:30 o'clock on the reverse. A great looking and very interesting mint issued medal to add to your collection. Condition: The medal is in about uncirculated condition. The medal has all of its details well preserved with minimum wear to the highest points. It does have a bruise to the rim (see 10:30 o'clock on the reverse as well as few minor nicks to the rim and some additional minor dings to the edges.
